Dear Rich: I self-published a novel in September 2013. Is it too late to register my book with the Library on Congress? No, you (or your estate) can register any time that the
work is protected (your life plus 70 years). If you register before an infringement occurs you can elect
statutory damages and may be entitled to attorney fees. Also, you
get a neat certificate. Although registration has its
benefits, keep in mind that it
is not a requirement for copyright protection.
